Instead of the normal Monthly Meeting, 82 Club members, wives and friends attended our Annual Xmas Lunch. As in previous years, it was held at the Hunters Lodge Hotel in Crewe.

Master of Ceremonies for the day was David Carr, who had previously announced that he would be standing down after this event having performed the role for many years. In recognition of his service to the Club, President Ken Jones presented David with an Honorary Membership Award.

For the first time, a top table guest was Mrs Mary Brookes and her Partner. Mary is the first President of the newly formed Ladies Probus Club of Sandbach whose membership is already almost 50. Their inaugural meeting saw the Club officially opened by the Mayor of Sandbach, Mr Richard Hovey. Mr Bob Monk, President of the Saxon Cross Probus Club also joined the top table

The Xmas Lunch is the occasion on which our President presents the year’s bowling trophies. The outdoor bowls Singles Trophy was presented to Derek Watts and the Doubles Trophy to Derek Watts and Keith Ludlam. The indoors Doubles Trophy was presented to Derek Watts and Brian Kerr with Runners Up Medals presented to Sandra Hannen and Howard Yates.
