News: January 2017

On January 10th, members met in Bradwall Village Hall for the first meeting in 2017. The speaker for this meeting saw the return of the highly regarded Elizabeth Morris, an accomplished actress and professional story teller.

Her story on this occasion was about a family struggling to cope with poverty brought about by a jobless and alcoholic father who drove the family to take refuge in the Northwich Union Workhouse on London Road. Elizabeth assumed the character of the daughter and told her life story, of how aged 16 she was taken in by a neighbour having been thrown out by the father after falling pregnant.
